Following the money track is the easiest way to understand or uncover the future of the PRE horse internationally.

The last few years have enabled Mexican Californians to import a great number of PRE horses from Spain. This has allowed for a growing number of California breeders to aggregate and determine the path of what performances would suit their culture to pursue on the backs of PRE horses.

It is a national culture of a people that determines the path of popular horse performance characteristics. The Spanish claimed bullfighting performance to best exhibit athletic PRE prowess. The Germans focus on the Warmblood toward the Olympic international world of dressage, while the Dutch claim the uniqueness of Friesian for carriage driving. California is now observing the Mexican Californians drive toward a dancing horse, a horse to ride chareado and a horse to make money from by singing to an audience.

These new PRE breeders have organized their first large collective show. They put up the money; they produced a good number of horses to be serviced by the show organizing skills represented by an association between the USPRE and ANCCE. The inscriptions and revision were conducted by ANCCE judges on many young horses, with the promise to produce cartas for the new owners.

These enterprising new breeders have begun to forge a performance mantra that suits a particular vision of their PRE future. It appears that this goal will move forward and that it is fully supported by USPRE/ANCCE. One must congratulate the Spanish Breeders who have sold horses to these Californians.

Many PRE Breeders who have nurtured, protected and enhanced their PRE equine breeding practices over last three decades cannot compete with this recent significant transfer of currency between Spain and California. However it is going to be interesting as to which group of Americans will produce a unique horse that exhibits the goals of performance status sought by some respected Spanish Breeders.

Until ANCCE declares a unified future goal for a focus on realizing what desired performance is a proper fit for the unique skeletal and musculature of the PRE, we might look toward to a disparate field of directions of breeding practices that will probably change the special beauty and performance strengths innately found in our beloved ancient horse.
